Why I am making my books pose at home I do not know. Maybe because it’s 10AM on a Saturday and I am wide awake. Talk about being old. Anyways, let’s go back to the book. I recall taking about 2 hours trying to choose my next novel to read. And I decided on the Martian. I’ve always like the space exploration / fantasy types of novels, and the reviews on the interweb were generally positive.
Plus they are making a move based on this book, so it has to be good right? Whatever.
The Martian is about a man that is stuck in Mars. It talks about his adventures, and how he tries to survive in Mars. That is all I am going to say. Don’t want to ruin it.
Score wise, I give it a 3.5 / 5 personally.
Why? Firstly because I am not smart enough to understand half the stuff the book is talking about. It’s full of science terminology, and although the author tries to illustrate the scene I am just not smart enough to comprehend. I found myself re-reading the several sections have the time, and then I got tired and gave up. The beginning was also a bit slow for my liking, but it does pick up in the latter half.
I wasn’t hooked 1/4 into the novel…but couldn’t wait to see what happens in the last quarter. So definitely stick it out and read it to the end!
