One of the most beautiful destinations in Asia is Hoi An.
I was lucky enough to stay 3 days in this beautiful city / town. Designated as a World UNESCO Heritage site, there is plenty to do and see here.
This includes:
- Getting a tailored suit / shirt
- Walk around the old town (duh, that’s what you are here for)
- Eat some good Vietnamese Food
- Local Cooking classes
- Ride a boat
- Take in the lanterns at night
The last two bullet points, ride a boat and look at lanterns at night IS A MUST DO!
I personally was super excited when Life Boss said we would be doing that. It would be so romantic! Yes! Time for some brownie points!
To go on the boat, you have to find a boat operator.
No shit Choi. How else would you get on a boat.
Yeah. True. And you don’t have to worry about not finding a boat operator. They are EVERYWHERE at night. Just walk close to the river and you will immediately get hounded by a hustler trying to sell you boat ride services.
We haggled a bit, but it wasn’t expensive to begin with so we weren’t too fuss. It was only 15 minutes though so I was pissed about that but meh. It was still a fun experience.
I mean just look at this:
One of the best views in the world.
Another cool thing you get to do while on the boat is to light a lantern and let it flow on the river.
Not sure if this is a fire hazard, but still cool!
Though life boss does not look too happy lighting her lantern up….
After the boat ride we walked around the city some more.
Life boss really likes the lanterns.
I was more “Meh, it’s lanterns”.
Maybe it’s a guy / girl thing. I guess it’s nice….but I was going crazy over it like Life boss was haha.
You should also walk through the city during the day.
It’s a good contrast to what you see during the night. A different perspective of old town.
PLUS, there aren’t many tourists here which is GOOD!
Yes, I am a tourist myself but fuck I don’t like being in such a crowded place nowadays. Takes away the experience in my opinion.
Even though Hoi An is more beautiful at night, I also enjoyed the quietness and calmness of Hoi An during the day!
Hoi An, you are just simply beautiful.
