Do you where you should go on a nice, breezy, warm Saturday afternoon in Chiang Mai?
There is only one answer to this question.
You should be going to the Saturday Walking Street!
To be honest, Life Boss and I were a bit “market’d out”. We already visited the Night Bazaar and Chiang Mai Gate Market (LINK THESE UP YO), so we thought we would be getting the same thing.
And for the most part, it was the same.
EXCEPT IT WAS A LOT BIGGER!
Here you can find a huge range of souvenirs to bring home.
From hats, to clothes, to pencil cases.
Pencil cases?
Yes, for whatever reason they sell pencil cases here. And Life Boss LOVED the cases:
I said to Life Boss she already has a bag for her pencils.
Life Boss gave me a “fuck you stare” and proceeded to buy a pencil case, in front of me. When life boss wants something, she doesn’t give a shit about what you think!
The fun at the market starts late afternoon and continues to 1030 – 11PM.
We didn’t stay that late of course, because we are getting old and needed rest badly.
The good thing about going early though is it wasn’t TOO packed. So we were able to walk leisurely through the market.
If you get hungry you can snack on the many food stalls that is offered here.
Want carbs? You can get some Pad Thai.
What meat? There are chicken skewers.
Fancy some seafood? You can get an entire fish grilled.
Want something exotic? How about some silk warms and scorpions?
.
.
.
What?
Yes. They fucking serve worms and scorpions here:
Ugh. Who eats this shit?
Bamboo worms? Scorpions on a skewer?
Is this shit even real? It looks so plastic to me.
Why are people so adventurous nowadays..
I would say this market is more for shopping than eating.
So if you want to shop (and not just get I love Thailand T shirts) this is a good market to go to.
BUT if you want good food, I say head over to the Chiang Mai Gate Market (ENTER BLOG LINK HERE), which is just a 5 minute walk from this market.
How about the Night Bazaar?
Fuck the Night Bazaar. (ENTER BLOG LINK HERE)
Over rated, nothing to buy, tourist trap. Basically everything you don’t want to see in a market.
Hope you take my word for it =p
