Love kick ass Pad Thai?
Then you HAVE to come to this very popular restaurant called Thip Samai, which has been around since 1966.
It is regularly voted as one of best Pad Thai Restaurants in Bangkok. Don’t believe me? Google that shit yourself!
I am not lying!
This place is simply YUM!
How popular was this this restaurant?
We came here before 7 and the line up was crazy LONG already. Look at this shit!
We waited for 30 minutes for a table.
In most cases I would have bitched like crazy and would have said fuck this let’s go to the restaurant next door. But on this night, I was super calm. Probably because I saw these two lovely dudes cooking up some awesome kick ass pad thai:
I saw them wrap the pad thai with egg, and I am like “Shit this wait is going to be worth it!”.
I love these street / food stalls too, gives you a super cool local experience.
So I waited gracefully for a table.
This was why I laughed at the tourists in front of us.
The restaurant gives you the choice of sitting inside with air conditioning but you have to pay 10 Baht, or you can sit outside with the other locals.
Those tourists chose the AC option.
Damn tourists! You should sit outside with the locals! Come on, it’s not even that hot! You guys are total noobs.
This worked out well for us because we were able to skip the line, get our table, and ORDER OUR PAD THAI.
Guess what you can order from the menu?
Pad Thai of course (duh).
But in addition, you can add big prawns to your pad thai. So sure, why the fuck not!
No over exaggeration here, these Pad Thai were simply the BEST!
- Damn delicious pad thai. Noodles tasted great in my mouth, PRAWNS WERE HUGE. And I wasn’t super thirsty afterwards which meant there was minimal MSG involved in this meal. GOOD MEAL.
I have to apologize for the shitty picture quality though.
This was before my sexy camera arrive. And being the smart ass that I am, purchased this very cheap fish eye lens.
Thought it looked cool.
It does look cool.
But it fucks up the quality.
Sorry!
There is another thing I need to rave about this place.
Their orange juice is absolutely THE BEST
- this was so damn fresh! Oh my god. No added sugar for sure! Love freshly squeezed orange juice!
Gawd.
As you can see this place ain’t no fancy shit.
Which was fine with me. I love my local experience as long as the food is good.
And it was so cheap too! Total came up to about 750 THB which is 22USD for 3 people….man get the fuck out of here! Can’t even get that in Hong Kong!
Great deal, great environment, great food. Can’t ask for more!

They only offer noodles but do them very well! Fun to watch the cooks on the street as you enter. If you want pad Thai then this is the place. ‘Superb pad thai’ comes wrapped in an omelette – amazing:)
best pad thai in bangkok! glad you had a chance to try ittt
Will be in BKK next week! Thanks for the review. Will deffo try this resto. And yes, I will sit outside with the locals because I don’t want to be accused as a noob. 🙂
Yes! Sit outside and be a local! Plus, its an better dining experience anyways. Let me know what you think of it!
Will do!
By the way how long will you be in bangkok?
Literally just “one night in Bangkok,” as the song goes. Only a stop-over on my way to another country. So I’m not sure if I have enough time to visit this resto. Will see if it’s near the area of my hotel.
Please do! Otherwise there are alot of other great thai restos u can try
Sorry I didn’t have time to look for this resto. For lunch I had pad thai at a hole in the wall in Phetchaburi Soi 5. Dinner was a bit fancier – just a bit – at Shambala in Ari area. Both authentic Thai though, so all is good.
Nice! Pad Thai is possibly the best invention to mankind…aside from a good burger and pizza hah.
Where was this post last week?! I had disappointing pad thai 🙁 now I blame you. Yes you. 😩
My bad! haha. you know what you need to do now.? You have to go back and eat some more pad thai!
Next year, I’m in Malaysia now 🙂
Where in MY?
