Hey there! My name is Choi and this is my life diary.
I started this blog back in 2012 where initially I didn’t have a theme. If you go back to my earlier posts you will see that it’s a bunch of nonsense, though I still tend to write a lot of nonsense. In the same year (2012) I made the move to Hong Kong where I got to travel and eat all sorts of delicious (and crappy) food. That’s when I said “Yo! let’s write about this”.
Nowadays I am living in Toronto and therefore am transforming this blog into the next phase – my settling down life phase. So eventually you will see less travel posts, and probably more day to say random shenanigans (probably mostly around food though). I will still travel, but with less intensity compared to before.
Okay. so why name this site eat some choi? Choi is vegetables in Chinese, and Life Boss always tells me to eat more vegetables. And because Life Boss owns and directs everything in my life, it’s only right to name this site eatsomechoi.com.
A little bit about myself:
My first passion is traveling and eating. However writing has always been a hobby of mine. My love for writing stems all the way back to grade school. At an early age I’ve already developed a passion to write down my thoughts, to tell stories, to strike an emotional cord with readers through words. In an age where youtube videos dominate the internet, I find that the art of writing is slowly disappearing, at least that’s my opinion.
Therefore, I have two main objectives for this blog:
- Document my travels and meals because my memory is bad
- Allow guest bloggers to regularly write on this platform
So yes, if you want to guest blog about your travel, meal or any other random thing then shoot me an email (see below for contact form). I really want to get people with writing and sharing their perspective of the world.
To wrap it up, my name is Choi. I write unprofessionally about my meals and travels. I like my life to be simple. I try to keep it that way.

Oh my god! You have been everywhere!! 😀 Do you have a post about your top 5 culinary experience abroad? It would be interesting to read!
I don’t have one…mainly because it will be SUPER hard for me to draft one…i can probably do a top 5 don’t eat places though haha
You are so well-traveled! Awesome blog… will you make it to the Philippines ever?
Not yet, for this year anyways. But it’s on my to visit list! Any recommendations in Philippines?
Plenty! Depends how off the grid you want to get! Palawan is a beautiful island and pretty much the no. 1 tourist destination, but there are great festivals throughout the year… hidden waterfalls, caves, and springs that the average tourist wouldn’t know about it. Beautiful beaches and great diving! I’m on the island of Bohol which has plenty of all of these, so I’m a little biased, but you’d find plenty to do, there’s only 7,107 islands to explore…! 🙂
There’s only 7,107 islands to explore haha…thanks! the world is so big…so much more to explore
Hi Munky:) I recently discovered your blog and it looks really exciting! All of your photos of food are making me hungry. I am excited to continue reading about your adventures in Hong Kong, as it is a place that I’m interested in learning more about. Good luck in your future endeavors!

Hi Munky, that’s such a fun job- being able travel and work! I’m a Taiwanese who moved to Calgary, Alberta last year. Despite how much I love the slow-paced lifestyle here, I still miss Asia from time to time. Wish you have a fantastic time in Asia and looking forward to more of your adventures! You’re welcome to drop by at my blog and say hello sometimes~
thanks Cat for dropping by =) Calgary is a great town! I only been once, and really want to go again. Maybe sometime in the future.
Already dropped by your blog, love your posts about Taiwan restaurants! I am going to try them out!
