Ha long bay is a popular tourist attraction because it’s simply one of the most beautiful bays around the world. It’s also a UNESCO site. Getting here was not easy though, we had to take a car ride from Hanoi to the port, which lasted about 3.5 hours. Midway there the driver had to take a break (I think it’s by law in Vietnam that drivers cannot drive more than 2 hours straight?). He dropped us off at this ghetto jade shop in the middle of nowhere, but at least we got to stretch our legs.
Afterwards, we finally got to the port where we boarded a beautiful cruise that was organized by a company called “Bhaya”.
I totally recommend this company, the cruise was clean and the food was magnificent.
We went for 3 days 2 nights, and honestly I wish the cruise was longer. If anything I just wanted to chill at the boat and read my book. Next time. The cruise brought us to various places around Halong Bay, some very breath taking views.
Would I come back? Not sure, because all the bays look the same after awhile (aka Phuket, Langkawi) but still I might bring my family here just for the cruise itself.
