Welcome to Sigiriya, Sri Lanka!
Choi was so excited when life boss told him he was going to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has always felt like an exotic country to me. I’ve dealt with people in Sri Lanka as part of my work and I’ve always been fascinated with their culture.
Being excited about Sri Lanka, you would think Choi would have done some research on must do’s there.
Choi does not do any research. He relies on Life boss to do the research.
So when we arrived at this big hunk of rock, I was like “shit”.
Is this another episode of “How to break your man’s knees“? Lord help me if it is because Choi can’t take it anymore, and he doesn’t want to spend a night in a Sri Lanka Hospital.
Thankfully the hike up wasn’t too hard. Guess Life Boss was not angry at me that day.
Score!
So what is this big hunk of a rock?
It’s basically the MUST DO and MUST SEE thing here. This big ass rock is an ancient rock fortress that is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It was once the capital of Sri Lanka (many years ago), and was chosen because of it’s secure location. To make it even more secure they built a damn rock fortress to defend the city.
Now that’s what I call good planning.
Before you make the climb up, there are a lot of pretty gardens.
Pretty Gardens? Did you just say pretty gardens?
Yes I did. A man can enjoy his gardens can he not? Do not judge me!
There was a cool river which you should take a picture of.
We then began our ascend to the top of the rock fortress.
I was surprised this climb did not kill my knees. Usually life boss picks these damn hills that makes me want to jump off and just die because I don’t want to have to deal with the pain anymore.
But nah, this one was pretty easy even for a out of shape Choi.
So don’t worry guys, you can make it.
See? Not too hard right?
And if you do think it’s hard then suck it up.
Why?
Because the view is SO worth it!
Words can not describe my feelings at the moment. So let’s just utilize some memes:
Simply breathtaking.
A definite MUST do if you are in Sri Lanka.
But how do I get there Choi?
Don’t know. We hired a tour guide. And I recommend you do the same =)
Love Sri Lanka!
