Confession time. For a long, long time I have not been sleeping well. I really don’t know why but I find that I wake up tired.
So I tried to something new in my sleeping routine.
I slept without a pillow.
And for some unknown reason, I have been feeling a lot more energetic during the day! I wake up in the morning feeling refreshed, and no longer am I dozing off at 2PM (unless of course there was a big lunch).
I really can not explain this phenomenon other than my personal theory:
Our body was not designed to have a pillow. A lot of pillows nowadays are meant to support your neck. However, as I research more and more online, it seems like your neck is most relaxed when most of the pressure is on your head, meaning your head is propping up your neck, not the other way around. This actually makes sense to me. Exception to this though, is if you sleep on your side. If you are a side sleeper then yes definitely have something that would support your neck.
Another reason why I am not tired the next day, is because I have been getting very deep sleep. A normal sleeping cycle has 5 stages. The first two stages is considered “light sleep”, the next two is considered “deep sleep”, and then the last step is what scientists called “REM” or rapid eye movement. In order to be fully rested, you have to get all five stages of sleep. They also say that when you are dreaming, you are in the last few stages of sleep, which is why I know I have been getting deep sleep.
As weird as this sounds, I do not dream as much sleeping with a pillow. I JUST DON’T KNOW WHY.
This tip is for those that have a hard time getting good sleep!! ZZZ WELL!
